McGill named assistant coach in Calgary

  The Calgary Flames announced on Tuesday that Ryan McGill has been named an assistant coach to newly appointed head coach Brent Sutter.

McGill, Dave Lowry and Jamie McLennan will serve as assistant’s on Sutter’s staff.

A native of Sherwood Park, Alta., heads to Calgary after seven seasons as an AHL head coach, including the last four seasons with the Flames’ top affiliates.

Rangers acquire Boyle from Los Angeles

  The New York Rangers, parent club of the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, announced today that the club has acquired forward Brian Boyle from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Minnesota Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher today named Crystal, Minn., native Todd Richards as the team’s new head coach.
