On July 1, Williams was a little envious that his buddy and former Toronto Marlies teammate Kris Newbury had signed a deal with the Detroit Red Wings.

The Toronto Marlies announced today that the club has signed defensemen Todd Perry and Eric Werner to American Hockey League contracts.
Perry, 22, played in 70 games as a rookie with the Toronto Marlies during the 2008-09 season collecting seven points (two goals, five assists) and 81 penalty minutes. The 6’3, 215-pound defenseman scored his first career AHL goal on December 26 against the Lake Erie Monsters.
